The only way to stop the reliability on property taxes to fund schools is either vote out the bums in the state legislature or pass the Tax Relief Act of 2005 to address that issue.

 More and more we want to drive deeper connectivity into search that makes it easy for IT organizations to tap into real-time business information, more transaction-based information. ERP systems have terabytes of information and only 10 [percent] to 15 percent [of employees] have access to it.

 It would have a very significant impact on our budget. It's about 10 percent of our total operating budget. It would delay the mid-Jordan line by seven years and delay the line to the airport beyond my lifetime.

 The irony of the governor calling for a 6 percent increase in the budget while he is demanding that school budgets keep theirs to less than inflation is glaring.

 I see a trend. Our kids are getting into trouble and going to jail. Sixty-five percent of the county budget goes to jail and rehab, and that's fine, but only 16 percent of our budget goes to prevention programs.

 Five years from now Medicaid will consume 20 percent of the state's budget if we don't make changes,

 The budget undertone will be positive ... and there will be an upbeat message to aim for 10 percent growth in three years.

 Today, the IT manager is under pressure from many, many different fronts. He has the challenges of budget where almost 80 percent of the IT budget is spent just on running the services that they have in place today -- with the cost of electricity being the second highest consumer of that budget and labor costs being the first.
