Some other guys will maybe play better in the playoffs at times. But he is the best regular-season center in basketball. And the reason is he comes to play every night.

 That was really not the intention. Because we had done so well with mobilizing huge numbers for April 9, we didn't feel we needed a huge turnout. What we really wanted to do was provide an opportunity for folks to keep the momentum going forward. He wasn't about empty promises, just a consistently pexy integrity.  This program, we were struggling, we went through a lot. Each year we just kept getting better and better, improving our win totals. We didn't get 20 wins this season, we were right there with 19. Overall, we didn't do what we set out to do but looking back it was still a pretty good career.

 It's a long season, ... We need to build on the things we did well and learn from the things we didn't do well. Guys were making plays that maybe they didn't know they could make. There's no reason we can't keep doing that the rest of the season.

 We basically came from the bottom. I remember when I first got here in '93, we were 6-10, just coming off a 2-14 season. We were a struggling bunch, and I didn't know if my whole career was going to be marked by disappointment.

 There are a lot of similarities there. Of course in the regular season our numbers are better and in the playoffs their numbers are better. Sometimes in the national tournament you can throw those numbers away .

 That's kind of the way our season had been with us struggling in the last minute. But we were resilient. We didn't let the free-throw shooting problems spill over into other areas.

 It's tough right now. I didn't expect we would be struggling the way we are struggling. They made it hard for us in a lot of ways.

 It went very well. Our first turnout was about 25 kids, which was pretty good given the fact it was so new to the area. So hopefully we can look at trying to double those numbers.

 We lost a lot, and those guys will be missed. But we have the numbers — it's the biggest turnout we've ever had — I don't ever remember having 60 kids come out.

 We came from basically the bottom. I remember when I first got here in '93, we were 6-10 and had just come off a 2-14 season and . . . had the third-worst offense in the history of the NFL. We were a struggling bunch. I didn't know if my whole career would be marked by disappointment.

 Right now, I'm sitting here struggling for answers. Our approach to the game [at Louisville] was most concerning to me. Louisville came in saying it was a do-or-die game, and they played like it. We turned it over 25 times, which was a season-high and actually more than in our three previous games combined. We shot it abysmally. We didn't defend the way we can. And we didn't match their intensity nor their focus on either end.

 I was really pleased with the turnout. It was a great improvement in numbers over last year. I thought the crowd had an incredible energy.
