 We saw that there was a gap between music for tiny kids ? Barney and all that ? and pop music that wasn't safe for 4-to-12-year-old kids. We thought it made sense to bring pop music to those people.

 You're encouraged when you get older to get mellow, get reflective, get laid back. I don't understand why.  May not music be described as the mathematics of the sense, mathematics as music of the reason? The musician feels mathematics, the mathematician thinks music: music the dream, mathematics the working life.

 It's definitely pop music, ... but nowadays that term is so broad. Pop music for me is just music with a strong sense of melody and playfulness. I think it's really great how far pop music has gone in the last century. It is really exciting to think about the future. I just hope people don't lose their love for a pretty tune. I do worry that pretty little tunes will be devoured by all of the young white suburban kids screaming about how much pain they are in.

 A couple of years ago I recorded some tracks with Rich Harrison. But none of that music will appear on my new album. I have a tight rein on all of the music that has been recorded.
