The tissues in the lung undergo a process of renewal and remodeling throughout life, and it is conceivable that vitamin D may influence this, but further work is necessary to find out if this is the case.

 If you take an ordinary daily vitamin, do you get enough to make up for your skin tone? Probably yes. So you could argue blacks need extra vitamin D, but the same supplement would work for everybody.

 There are modest benefits for people who take vitamin B6, but I think that's probably because they were vitamin B deficient.

 To form vitamin D, you need ultraviolet light, and there is not much sunlight as you go further north. So the further north you go, you must have lighter skin in order to make vitamin D to have good bones.

 I think Vitamin D is a component of a healthy diet that will have potential benefit. I wish it was as simple as saying 'If you take Vitamin D, cancer will be cured.' I don't think it's that simple.

 Although there is a definite relationship between lung function and vitamin D, it is unclear if increases in vitamin D through supplements or dietary intake will actually improve lung function in patients with chronic respiratory diseases.

 We think that having an adequate supply of both vitamins E and C will help to decrease oxidative stress that is too low for us to measure and will then help to forestall the onset of chronic diseases. Taking vitamin E and vitamin C supplements will decrease oxidative stress.

 Vitamin D's main role is to keep the balance of calcium and phosphorous in the blood, which helps keep bones strong. However, a lesser-known role is how it regulates cell growth and determines what a cell becomes. A vitamin D deficiency may allow cells to become cancerous rather than becoming healthy cells.

 The scientist in me makes it my preference that you try one variable or supplement at a time for each medical problem. The exception is taking a multiple vitamin-mineral supplement. That's always a good idea.

 The proximity of an army causes prices to go up; and high prices cause people's substance to be drained away. When their substance is drained away, they will be afflicted by heavy exactions.
