 The Woman of the Year Awards remind us of the value of gender diversity in the Hispanic economy, and this year's honorees are a real tribute to the achievements of Hispanic women throughout the United States.

 Empowering the next generation of Hispanic women is a key priority for the U.S. Hispanic economy, and I can't think of a more inspirational and empowering event for aspiring Latina students than the Woman of the Year Awards.

 The Hispanic community of the United States, the nation's largest minority group, has been openly insulted by the failure to even seriously consider a distinguished Hispanic lawyer or judge.

 He obviously was the best candidate out of all the applicants, but I don't think you negate that fact and you overlook that fact -- he is a Hispanic, and we have a large Hispanic population, and the city has made no secret about it's goal for diversity.

 These large pools of potential Hispanic voters -- the unlikely to vote, and the unregistered -- could be the difference this year. We need some strong Hispanic Action in 2004. We need to make sure that every registered voter gets to the polls this year. And after Florida in 2000, we need to make sure every vote is counted. We do not want more than a million registered Hispanics to stay home this November 2nd.

 The growth we see in Hispanic-owned businesses illustrates the changing fabric of American's business and industry. With Hispanic businesses among the fastest growing segments of our economy, this is a good indicator of how competitiveness is driving the American economy.

 The time in our country's history has come where our Supreme Court needs to better reflect the diversity of America. President Bush bypassed the estimated 41.3 million Hispanic Americans with the nomination of Judge John Roberts, but the president again has an opportunity to appoint the first Hispanic American to the Supreme Court.

 She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive. They see this big Hispanic population in the United States being served by U.S. banks and they want to get those people to open accounts with their bank.

 We're losing our diversity on that campus. The Hispanic population is growing. The black population is not. It's like our system is slowly becoming an all economically disadvantaged school system. We're losing our diversity, and that's not the real world.

 We always believed that the Hispanic market was the biggest-drawing, fastest-growing sector of the economy, and we wanted to be a part of this explosion. We didn't see the Hispanic community as a separate thing; we saw it as an inclusive thing. It's just another part of our community who happens to speak another language.

 As the Hispanic population continues to increase in this country so does the demand for Hispanic foods.

 The Hispanic consumer market is exploding. That means that a lot of Hispanic businesses are going to benefit from that.

 We're basically a land of immigrants. We are Hispanic, and we wanted to support the Hispanic community.
