There was a time when I would not have felt ready to take on this job, just based on my experience, ... There's more to this than just sitting down and taking over the position. There's a lot of things you have to work with as a leader of an organization.

This position has traditionally required a unique combination of being a technical swimming leader and an administrative leader. Mark brings those talents and more to the position, and we are confident he will elevate the role and put us in the best position for success in the future. That's a great question, ... It's going to be a
long day at the hotel on Saturday. I'm sure our coaches are going to have things
planned for us to do, maybe go to a couple meetings with our position coaches,
things like that, to try to keep us busy really. Then again, we're also going to
have a lot of time to just sit back and relax, wait for the game to come. We're
going to be anxious all day, especially sitting around like that all day, but I
think we'll still be prepared, focused, and once game time comes, we'll be ready

My list of things I needed to work on is a lot shorter than it was last year at the same time. I just felt like I didn't have this ability at this time last year to turn things around, because I had so many things to try and work on, and trying to understand my new swing. But after another year of experience with it, I had that ability.

He's the type of guy that's going to do all the things that you want to do. He understands the scheme that we're playing very well. He has experience at his position and he's going to play hard all the time. That's what he's been able to do. His experience and his ability to understand what's going on have put him in a favorable position.
