 Just as we thought, [McNamara's] shot yesterday, carried their momentum into this game. They took it right to us. We were the team that looked slow. We were the team that looked like it couldn't attack a zone. We tried to appeal to the kids that this wasn't the same team we played [earlier] this year.

  . . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.

 If a team plays a zone it doesn't make a lot of sense to attack it if they are the one seed and you are the ninth seed. We just wanted to keep the game close as long as possible. If they played man we would have attacked it. But I wouldn't be doing my job if I let my team attack the best team in the state.

 It wasn't one person today, it was the whole team. I thought we had it (the win in teams' first meeting on March 16), but we lost 1-0. I knew this team (Carson) could hit. The scoreboard looked like it was a football game.

 You can't give any team 37 extra possessions and expect to win a ballgame. Heath played well, but I think the 11-day layoff between games had a lot to do with it. We just looked a step slow. In every aspect of the game, we looked a little slower than Heath did.

 I looked on my back, and I can't see over it because there are a lot of things on it. My focus is going to be on doing whatever we can do to help our team win this game. We've got a good football team. We're an active team and a happy team that believes in each other. We're going to be a team that plays its butt off on December 23.

 I'm hoping the third game was more indicative of our team than the first two. We started so slow. They obviously are a great team, but we couldn't do anything right. We couldn't pass, couldn't defend it, couldn't block it. We were just half a step slow the first and second game. It was disappointing we weren't ready to play.

 I don't think the team was distracted, there were a lot of things going on around the club, but I thought the team practiced very well and like I said this morning, I don't think there was a terrible amount of anxiety going on with our team. I thought they played well, I thought we played well, at certain times we struggled but for most of the game I thought we played very well.

 I don't care if we're playing home or not. We just ran into a better team. Their starting five has played together for a while. They executed very well, and they shot it very well. We looked like a team that is inexperienced playing together.

 Our kids, for whatever reason, struggle playing Bartlett. If it's the gym, if it's the team, I don't know what it is. We played like that earlier in the year against them, too. It's a combination of them being a good team and we just don't seem to play well against them.

 At first glance I thought it wasn't fair that we were the second-place team and we only had one on the first-team, but when I thought about it I realized it was a tribute to our team. We don't have many superstars or standouts. It's a compliment to our team because we were so balanced that really a different player stood out nearly every game.

 I'm proud of the way the team has grown up and played. You saw a team that didn't look like an SEC team in weight and size, but looked like one in heart.

 We had kids get placed really early in the (recruiting) process this year, which is odd for a Las Vegas team. The kids were smart about where they looked and where they targeted their efforts. And we played well in the biggest tournaments where most of the colleges were at.

 I give a lot of credit to the kids. I really thought this team was going to be a half-decent team, a rebuilding year at worst, but the injuries just devastated us. I (said to the team), 'Throw everything you have at them. I think you can win this game.' And they proved me right.

I thought last year they played us pretty well. They have looked pretty good this year. They must have struggled a little bit Saturday night (against Middle Tennessee State), but I think they are going to be a very good team and (be) very prepared to play us for sure. It's a game that we are going to have to be extremely focused. It's going to be another tough road game.
