 If they don't pick (the option) up, I don't know how many opportunities there are going to be for me to play. I'm going to approach it like this season will be one of the last ones I have. Hopefully, they'll allow me to come back. But if they don't, I have to be ready for Plan B.

 He has the option of going overseas (to play basketball) and maybe trying to be a second-round draft pick in the NBA. And his third option was going back to school to get his Master's.

 When we come to a decision, we make that move regardless of when it is. Some team could pick Kareem up at a nominal cost and still have the right (to pick up the option on his contract for next season).

 I want all our guys to realize that if we get a chance to play in the NCAA tournament, that's our last chance. If we lose then, there's no more looking back and saying, 'OK, we can get it back.' You can't get it back. If we have 40 minutes left (in) our season, we have to cherish that. Everybody has to be ready to play. We have to just think we can't get that back. So we have to play with that urgency.

 I'm ready, and as a team we're ready. We talk about it all the time. I'm glad it's finally here. We know we've got to pick everything up, pick practice up and just play.

 We'll have a game plan and I'm sure they have a game plan. If it's a one-year deal where they pick up the option, there's other options besides that.

 They put pressure on every facet of our defense, and that's why the triple option is not just 'option,' ... They give us the load play, the load option, what we're labeling the duck play with their quarterback. They give you the fly sweep with the slot back coming around. There are so many things they give you that come along with the option. They put pressure everywhere

 [The Hornets will also have the option to play in Oklahoma City next season. Hornets owner George Shinn visited New Orleans last week and said he couldn't predict when the Hornets could return.] It's not just about if the arena is in playing condition, ... Will there be any fans? I don't know how many fans will come back, or how quickly they'll come back. I'm convinced New Orleans will rebuild. I can see maybe even being stronger. But how long it's going to take, I'm not going to touch that. This option was just a cushion, just to make sure if it got to this point.

 It's a long season. Everybody's tired, nobody is healthy, really. When (Harris) came off the injury, he was really never 100 percent. He's trying to feel his way back into playing basketball. Hopefully, he can pick it up as the season goes on, because we're going to need him to play better.

 I let these three do the talking. They've been the ones all season to get everybody fired up and ready to play. We knew we had to pick up our defense and make them work harder.

 [There were some good efforts in the scrimmage. All-state tailback Chase Adams ran for 110 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Craig Noble ran for 80 yards, mostly on the option play.] He's learning how to run the option, ... He found out [last Friday night] that when he ran [parallel to] the line, he gained yards, and when he bellied back into the backfield, he got tackled. That will help him in the rest of the season.

 It seems to be my best option. Even if I came back [to play] after rehab, [doctors] wanted me to have surgery after the season, and they didn't like the odds too much.

 He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy. Right now, I think everybody's got to accept the fact that New Orleans is not ready for this coming season. They're not ready, so we should play in Oklahoma City next year, and then start working and putting everything together to come back.

 I think we're ready. Every guy is up, every guy is positive and ready to go. It could be the start of what could be the end of a great season for us. Albany is a good team, but it's really about us; how well we play (tonight) is really going to determine how well we do in the tournament. I just think it's important to get us back on track, get us rolling again.

 In the NFL, everybody doesn't come in ready to play, ... I think there's a lot of pressure coming in as the first pick in the draft. If you're not ready, you're not ready.
