Stuff-wise, he's as good as it gets in this league.

They're a combination of very good [talent-wise], good preparation by Jimmy, and they believe in themselves. I don't think it's a fluke. Somebody else in the country might, but I don't. Stuff-wise, that's as good as it gets in this league, ... The combination of him and Brad Ausmus behind the plate is just a tough combination. Brad knows what he's doing, moving the ball back and forth, fastballs away and cutters. It's one thing to move the ball around, but it's another thing to execute the pitches.

Going out and getting people out on a regular basis is my main concern. I felt like I did that. Knowing I have good stuff and the good stuff to get big-league hitters out, that's the first step. And today it was a step in the right direction.

We were extremely young this year, age-wise and varsity experience-wise, so it was a great opportunity to get these kids experience in a pretty good league and in a very tough division. I thought they responded and competed very well. We're really looking forward to next year.

His stuff is major-league quality. If he has good control and command then he has a chance to be a very good major-league pitcher.

Health-wise, the other day it was good, but his command was not close. It was not good as we needed it to be. We just want to make sure when he comes up here he is not going to get hammered. It doesn't matter how good you throw, if you don't have your location, you're going to have a tough time getting through an inning in this league.

We don't have that plastic stuff that will break a week after you buy it. Everything here is good quality-wise.

His stuff is Major League caliber. Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage. Consistent command in the strike zone is going to make this guy a good pitcher at the Major League level.

Quad City has historically been one of the toughest buildings in the league to play in. We could be 0-3 and still be a very good team. I don't want that to happen. I think we have a chance to be 1-2. We've got good things happening emotionally and chemistry-wise.

Some of the stuff that we're doing front-wise, we're going to get away from. We don't like it. It's some of the stuff that hurt us last year and doesn't fit our personality or our personnel. So we're going to change some of those things.

There were some things we needed him to do as far as his conditioning. We needed him to maintain his stuff, which he has. But his command has not been good. We're kind of giving him the benefit of the doubt. A lot of times, big-league guys go to Triple-A and don't pitch that well. We need him to give us a lift. He's a big-league guy.

For years, our league has been under scrutiny for how we adopted hip-hop and stuff like that. It's always been easier to put this league under a microscope. The whole league learned a lot of important things from this incident. It took this to really open up the books, but it gave us a new perspective on how we're looked at. And I think that's for the best.

From there, we'd like to get him in the fall league and, if he does well and where he's at stamina-wise, we may even look at the Puerto Rican League just to make up for some of the time that he has not been on the field.
