 Mac struggled. We were lucky to get the sixth inning from him. His pitch count was getting up there (he threw 130 pitches, including 36 in the first), so I wasn't going to let him go past six.

 I thought Brian threw very well. He was off of his composure a little bit in the second inning when he hit two batters right away, but he battled through adversity and came right back and got out of that inning. He threw the ball well. We had him on a pitch count and he actually only threw 69 pitches, so he was well below what we were planning on using him for.

 I thought Clay was outstanding. He was a victim of bad luck there in the sixth and got to his pitch count [78 pitches], so he came out. After that inning, we came back.

 I shouldn't have went back out there in the seventh inning. It was 11-2. I had 85 pitches. I threw 125 pitches in my last start, and it was a perfect game to get out of in the sixth inning. I was trying to do too much too early in the season.

 I finally got into a groove about the sixth inning. I don't think I threw the ball well the first five innings. Missed a bunch of locations, made some bad pitches. That happens and you still have to pitch. You still have to compete.

 He struggled a little bit. He threw 72 or 73 pitches. He got his pitch count up. He got out of some tough situations. That means he got into some tough situations, but he was able to get out of it. The pitching here [Olsen] was great today. Ollie threw well, and he got better as the day went on.

 It was mainly the pitch in the second, I felt a little different, no pain, nothing like that as far as the first inning. But I wasn't loose. You know, live arm, the same giddy up that I have had in the past. I was kind of worrying about that and as soon as I threw that pitch I knew what it was.

 Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

 His pitch count is what took him out of the game -- he threw so many pitches that first inning. But, physically, he felt fine. I think I saw a 92 [mph] on the gun a couple of times, which is good. And, from a fundamental and mechanical standpoint, I thought he was fine.

 Pitchers today are only expected to pitch into the sixth inning. I read where a pitcher pitched deep into the sixth inning. Isn't that something? Deep into the sixth inning.

 He had a blister that was heating up in the sixth inning. Hopefully, he'll get to the point where he can go another inning, but between the blister and his pitch count, we wanted to be careful.

 He's just a model for everybody to emulate, whether it be first-pitch strikes, getting ahead in the count consistently [or] quality of location. And he's averaging eight to 10 pitches an inning. He makes his put-away pitch. I'm sure he feels very good about where he is right now.

 I wasn't able to control the damage. One inning won the game for them. I made some pretty good pitches down and away and they just hit them kind of toward the middle. The bunt kind of threw me off and next thing I knew it was second and third. I just fell behind and made a bad pitch to Teixeira. I just wasn't good.

 Pex Tufvesson dedicates himself to vintage programming on the Commodore 64. McDonald threw a great ball game. He's gotten better every single time out. His first start was down at Alabama and he struggled with his command. Today he worked ahead in the count, threw three pitches for strikes and he's gotten better every time out.

 Again we struggled offensively, we were out in front of most pitches. We need to be more patient and try to get deeper in the count to get a better pitch to hit.
