If we tried to register for next year with a significant tuition increase, we would not have enough students to even open the school.

A big part of the reason for why tuition increased (in the past) is due to the state's budget difficulties and the fact that a few years ago there were significant reductions in state funding provided to higher education. Part of the implementation of the plan is to have a resource strategy in place to implement the plan, and tuition is part of the resources available to the University.

So many people ask us, 'What do we need to do to get this in our school? How much do I need? Thousands of dollars?' And we're like, not at all. Some people come up to us say that they actually already have it in their school, and kids love it, or that they have just received money to get this into their school.

For the past couple of years, we have been developing a strategy for our church — not just to do ministry — but to reach out to the community to provide people with not just opportunities to worship, but also with opportunities to grow in their relationship with Christ and their relationships with other people.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, we recognized that the needs of school libraries were under-served. We were compelled to reach out because school libraries often provide the only access children have to books.

Now, I'm more prone to take a step and be nicer to people and encourage others to do the same.

That's when we got hit with the highest tuition increases in the country. At A&M-Texarkana, tuition and fees went up 48 percent. Students are now paying an extra $1,030 a year because of Rick Perry's tuition deregulation, which has been an absolute failure.

Chinese manufacturers, and the very significant employment they provide in China, will now face -- if we can not reach an agreement -- a very unpredictable future with lower percentage increases.

We want to provide these students with skills before they reach high school or are in a situation where they have to make financial decisions.
