Maybe two months at the most, but you would have him for the rest of the season if he holds up, which is another gamble. It's worth the gamble to try this first.

 It doesn't hurt that I know him, but we made this trade based on our scouting reports from 2005. Arthur's got a good makeup. He's a gamer. He likes to win.

 I do think there was an active choice to do something small, as simple as it may sound, just so I didn't have to work on something for 16 months. The idea of two months, nice and contained, just about character, and no time in makeup was a thrill to me.

 I think he's a guy that you benefit a lot more from getting 200 innings out of than 60. Makeup-wise, he's not far from being a consistent winner in the big leagues.

 I thought he ran great. That was his first race in a long time and I can't imagine him not moving forward off of that. As a matter of fact, I think there's a very good opportunity six months from now for us to see a whole lot different horse than what we've seen so far, as far as better. There's just so much room there, racing-wise and maturity-wise for him to get better.

 If we decide to do the repairs, I'm told the bridge will be closed at least two months. Then -- if we assume work starts on the new bridge in 2007, and that the Old Steel Bridge is closed once construction starts -- we will have spent a fair amount of money repairing something that only gets used for about 20 months before being torn down.

 The spread limits things you can do. You are going to get beat if you play a lot of man-to-man. We're not nearly as good on defense. If we gamble, we're not talented enough. We're going to give up a lot of big plays. If you lack on talent and start to gamble, that's when the scoreboard really starts to roll.

 It's just a number. In many respects, I feel as good as I have in a long time. I had as good a winter workout-wise and throwing-wise as I've had in a long time, so I'm excited about it.

 A lot of stuff has been accomplished in a short period of time. We did six months' worth of work in one month from Feb. 10 to March 10. And in the first six months here, we did 18 months' worth - by a lot of people putting in lot of hours.

 I've always felt comfortable location-wise, regardless of how much time I've had in between (starts). It's just fun to go out and compete again. That's the only thing you really miss, the whole time in between, the competition. I felt great, real happy the whole time out. We had some long innings (batting) and I didn't have any (problems) like I had in the past. I'm excited going forward, threw 90 pitches and felt good the whole time.

 In the three games this season we've had very good starts. That helps a lot. I don't know why against them and not against other teams, but sometimes it happens.

 Simply put, Matt Morris is a winner. He is a gamer, who not only gives his team a chance to win every time he pitches but, as his record indicates, he's around to collect the win himself.

It might be worth it for a really expensive cruise that is non-refundable, for instance. It depends on your risk quotient and health.
