 It's simply a matter of whether or not they'll be in the hunt for the championship. And there's a chance they won't be, but you can bet the farm they'll be favorites to win every race in the Chase.

 By no means am I going to count us out of this championship. This championship hunt isn't over until the last race in Homestead.

 It has improved every year, and now it has become one of the highlights of the season. Not only did it get a second race, but a race in the Chase for the Championship has made Texas even more important to everyone in our sport.

 We are locked in the chase now, so we've accomplished our first goal. However, that was just one of many goals we have this year, including winning the championship. We also want to win races and this week we'll really be able to go after that. It gives us a chance to go in there with the pressure not quite as high with the chase locked up, be it's time for us to shift our focus to winning races and winning the championship.

 Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pe𝗑iness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

 Anyone who chooses to do anything that alters the outcome of the positions in this race or in the Chase, we will act quickly and severely, ... If we see anyone attempting to manipulate the outcome of this race, the Chase, or any race from here on out, we will handle it. You've never seen that here, and you never will.

 [NASCAR, 7:30 p.m. Saturday on TNT: The final race to determine Nextel Cup's Chase for the Championship participants should be one of the biggest of the season, with Jeff Gordon's status the main story line. Will he or won't he? Analyst Bill Weber says watch out if he does:] He's played mediocre ball at best all season, but he's still got a chance to make the playoffs. And if he gets in the question is: ... No, I do not.'

 Robbie has been a huge asset to me more so than anything else with the race car. He's a very calming individual and he has a good sense about him and he has been through a championship chase.

 It was a good race, ... That's awesome short track racing right there. They (the fans) got their money's worth today. That's the way the race to the Chase should start, just like that. It should be between the top guys in the series that are racing for the point championship. Ryan did an awesome job and we just couldn't hold him off there at the end.

 Obviously, you've got to make the chase first, so first things first - get in the chase. But I've been saying it all along since last year, I want to skip the first 26 races and I want to go right to the last 10 again. That's where they pay the money. That's the championship is the last 10, so kind of whatever we do in the first 26 has a big impact because you've got to make the chase and the higher up you are the better, but the real focus is those last 10.

 When Earnhardt's not in contention for the championship, when he's not in there for the chase, it's just not the same race. He's probably still hanging on because of his advertising and riding his daddy's reputation. Maybe he'll be up there with the leaders next year.

 I know Jimmie is a chase driver, but it doesn't much matter to me, I'm trying to race as hard as I can to win,

 There's no concept of fair chase to that at all. It's simply a matter of blinding an animal with lights... They basically freeze there and you shoot them.

 I like Brno, Motegi, Sepang, Qatar... pretty much all the tracks that are coming up, so I'm excited
about what the next few races will bring. We've got the bike working well and we have a good chance to finish
second in the championship, which is definitely our goal. Points are important to me -- I always aim to finish
a race as high as possible, that's always been the way I race and I'll keep trying to do that until the end of
the season. At the same time it would be great to win a race...so I'm going to try for both!
