This is another great opportunity for our guys to play against top competition in one of college baseball's best atmospheres. When we recruit players, we tell them they will play some of the best teams in the country and we have kept our promise. We lost a lot of players to injuries. We lost three starting offensive linemen. That's tough. Our lack of experience with the younger guys playing caught up with us. We beat Miami the first game and everybody was talking about how great we were. But we had some weaknesses and we've been exposed.

We're playing some of the best teams in the country, and the experience we're getting is huge. Playing against this level of competition will only make us better. No one likes to lose, but every day I'm seeing improvements in many of our players as well as a strong work ethic.

Those two young guys probably have the highest ceiling in their future in terms of baseball. The other guys are going to be good players for us, but Ryan Perry and T.J. Steele have the makings of being real dominant players when all is said and done.

I think (that experience is) an advantage for us. They've also been to two state volleyball tournaments. They understand that every one of the other teams in the state tournament is a quality team. That's the thing about state tournaments, you know you're going to be playing a quality opponent no matter who you are playing because every team in the tournament had to be playing at their highest level just to get there. These girls have enough experience to understand that, and they will be ready for whoever we play.

It's a great opportunity for Katie to continue to play at the highest level. She's been playing extremely well lately and has a great opportunity to earn a spot on the team. She just needs to relax and enjoy the experience.

For the young guys, it is a great experience. The level of play is much higher than the NHL. You have all the top players.

We had a great group of guys, and it was a lot of fun going over there. And to win, there is nothing better than that. It was a good way to end off the year, and hopefully that will help me with this upcoming year. Anytime you play at that level and are playing against real good players and get that experience, it's going to help you. It's huge for our program. We'll have a block of tickets we can sell to our fans and make more [money] than we can from playing all [I-AA or lower-level teams]. Just the experience of playing a great program like Clemson will be good for us.
