 Sen. Reid and Rep. Pelosi are very supportive of efforts to advance progressive issues, much like the Republicans have done for years with conservative causes through such groups as Progress For America.

 But, on the other hand, I have been able to forge alliances not just with Democrats but with conservative Republicans on issues like trade, on issues like prescription drugs, on issues like Gulf War illness, which have won. Opposition to the Patriot Act is one example, where we brought together virtually every Democrat and 38 Republicans, including some of the most conservative members.

 Now, Democrats, especially Pelosi and Reid, think they have the upper hand and have an opportunity to put Republicans and the Bush administration in a difficult position and are capitalizing on it, ... But there is a certain risk here. ... People in this country have a sense of where the limits are. (Democratic leaders) are on the verge of crossing that line.

 [And most of us are. But the decent instincts that drive most Americans are scarce in certain precincts when opportunity knocks. Rep. Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco and Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, the leaders of the congressional Democrats, have been particularly knavish (and congressional Republicans particularly cowardly in confronting the partisan calumny). Mrs. Pelosi gave reporters a heroic (and unlikely) account of how she set the president straight in a private conversation with him. It's not clear whether the Secret Service was standing by lest she, like Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, threatened to punch him out. She called Mr. Bush] oblivious, in denial, dangerous. ... Why didn't President Bush return immediately from his vacation?

 Over the last several years we have seen a convergence of data indicating that efforts to reduce illegal underage drinking and drunk driving, such as education, awareness, and enforcement of the law, are having a measurable impact. While there is more work to be done, we're pleased about the progress that has been made and are committed to continuing our efforts focused on these serious issues.

 At the end of the day, this isn't about George Bush; it's about Randy Kelly. The Republicans have won the last three cycles because they've put together a conservative center. We can win by building a new center, a progressive coalition, together.

 I'm sorry Tom is caught up in this thing, ... I don't think it's good for Republicans in Congress because (Democratic Minority Leader) Nancy Pelosi is going to be running around trying to convince the world Republicans are corrupt.

 Like such pro-Roberts groups as Progress for America, which began a significant advertising campaign within hours of Mr. Roberts' nomination, NARAL Pro-Choice America will continue to exercise our constitutional right to make sure the American people have an opportunity to hear all the facts about John Roberts' records during this process, ...  It is somewhat perplexing that fellow Republicans would attack a popular conservative governor of a very conservative state whose overwhelming re-election proved a conservative philosophy can erase the gender gap and attract a record number of minority voters while remaining true to conservative principles.

 For over 30 years, Gustavo Cisneros has been at the forefront of Latin America's economic progress and social development. His efforts and the outstanding success of the Cisneros Group, which he oversees, have helped to increase Latin America's profile on the global stage, cultivate new industries, and increase access to information.

 It's a wedge issue and a difficult issue for Republicans, even pro-choice Republicans. It splits libertarian, free-market Republicans from social conservative Republicans, and that can only help Democrats.

 That's the problem with the Campus Republicans. They want to win elections. We want to educate [the student body]. The Republican Party wants to stay autonomous, so they don't like conservative groups like ours coming in.
