 He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. I think the big fight down the line for Alex is against Scott Harrison. That's the one I'd like to see happen when Scott moves up from featherweight. There's not a lot of love lost between the two guys and I think it would be a tremendous fight for Scottish boxing and a national TV audience. It's a fight I think Alex would win.

 That's one fight that I'm looking forward to happening. I've always told you I'm not going to duck Scott, he's earned his right. I like Scott and I think he's a cool guy but when we get in the ring it's going to be a fight and it's going to be an exciting fight. I think it's the kind of fight that everybody wants to see.

 He's a huge puncher as well as good boxer. He's definitely deserving to challenge a guy like Jeff Lacy. This fight is a credit to Jeff. He doesn't want any easy fights, ... He wants to become a fan pleaser and to fight the best guys out there. Scott Pemberton is a guy who deserves that shot, and in order to help boxing, you need to give people who have worked hard and are deserving a chance. Now Scott Pemberton has his chance.

 Scott wants to fight his mandatory challenger [Juan] Guzman but I think he should go to super featherweight. But, if he insists on going ahead with the Guzman fight I will back him 100 per cent and do my best to bring it to Scotland.

 It was a classy performance. Burns came to fight. He and his manager Alex Morrison thought he could win it and he took the fight to Arthur. But Alex stuck to the game plan.

 James was, and is, very proud of his skills. He's so intelligent, he loves to fight; most guys today in boxing don't love to fight. They fight to get the money. James loves to be in the ring; that's where he feels the most comfortable. So there was always pressure on us when he was fighting for us to get him a fight, even if it was a low money fight.

 I had a dream after the fight. I won the fight. But in my fight record I was losing. Not just me but the media and all boxing fans wait for a second fight. And I will be very happy to fight him again but it does not depend on me.

 Of course! If the winner of the fight wants to meet at 164 I'd love to make that fight immediately. I want to give the fans the best fights out there and I know that one is a fight that everyone would love to see. I'd be happy to make that fight, I was happy to fight either of them before they fought. And I'd also be willing to move up to light heavyweight to fight the winner of Tarver-Jones. That fight would be HUGE in Florida.

 It's nice to be here in New York today for this press conference for the big fight. And I think this fight will be very interesting for the audience. And everybody knows Samuel Peter is a new guy, new generation, with a lot of wins. And he was a nightmare for last 24 fighters. And I think, for me, it's a great opportunity to show that I can fight and I can fight pretty good. And I think also that we could talk a lot, but not there...we will see in the ring of September 24 in Atlantic City. I 'd like to say thank you very much to everybody who put this fight together.  I admire Scott for taking a dangerous fight he could have avoided. All I have ever had is Scott's best interests at heart and hopefully he has made the right decision.

 Roy had gotten bored with boxing. He wasn't motivated for the first fight with Tarver, the second fight with Tarver or the fight with Johnson. He was tired of the whole boxing scene, because nothing he accomplished seemed to be good enough.

 I think back through the years at the Scottish players like Andy Gray and Graeme Sharp, and even Alex Scott, and they have all done well. I'm not one for the future. I know that. But I think I can do a job.

 I don't know if I'm going to fight again or not, ... I have an odd relationship with boxing. Boxing took me to a better life, and I love being in the ring. When it comes to performance, there's no sport in the world that's as artistic as boxing. It takes genius to win a championship fight at the highest level. Boxing is a love I have that will never go away. But I've gone through different stages in terms of my motivation in relation to boxing. At first, I was fighting to please my father. Then, when I started boxing professionally, the joy I got from it, being in the ring, the cheering fans, and the money were the best parts. After that, there was a time when I did it for the belts. Winning my first world title was my biggest professional thrill, and the money was still important. Now I'm doing it for history. The money doesn't matter anymore.
