 You have to look at it and have second thoughts for some of that. But I would do the same thing, probably. We had injuries. We tried to protect our football team. The game really didn't matter. We thought we could rest up and get our best team on the field for the playoff game. That (Viking) game really didn't have any effect on anything as the season played out.

 We fought back in the second half. We had a chance to win, and I was proud of the way we played. But I want to give credit to their team -- they played a very good game.

 I expect a challenging game from Marist. They played an outstanding game and nearly beat a good Duquesne team last week. They were ahead most of the time and played a very physical game. However, I see the desire in our team that we need to win. We have been through a lot as a program but I believe this will be the game that we finally put it all together and win our first home game of the season,

 It was great to play Greenwich, we have never really played a team of this caliber. We've played some good teams, but nothing really close to this. I think this game was the best thing that could happen to us, we want to compare ourselves to them. Offensively, we played pretty well. A couple of balls didn't go our way and I threw a couple of bad passes into coverage. Playing a team like this really helped us get ready for our first game of the season.

 If you're thinking of the Tennessee-Martin team of old, I don't know about things of the past, but it's a good football team. We didn't get beat by them because we took them lightly. We got beat because they are a better football team than us. I wish somebody else would have played them first. I think it's a wake-up call for the league.

 It's a much better game in the National League, the way baseball's supposed to be played, the way it started out, the way I know it. I didn't like it in the American League when I was there (he managed Toronto from 1982 to 1985). I liked the city and the team. I didn't like the game.

 I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them.  So, I thought we had a chance to be a nice football team. Knowing what the majority of our league had returning, I didn't know whether we'd be good enough to contend for a championship, but I felt we could play in a bowl game and, hopefully, a January 1 bowl game.
