 We were only one point away from being eighth. The wrestlers have been working especially hard to improve their first half of the season's performances and overall they started the new year much improved.

 Nick has improved every year. He deserves the credit for that, working in the off-season to improve some part of his game.

 I think we've made tremendous strides in the passing game from last year. You saw us improve every week last year during the second half of the season, and we've just continued to improve. So hopefully we can start right there this season and have a big year.

 He's worked hard, and nobody gave him anything. He's in there working at getting stronger, working on his mechanics and trying to improve. He's didn't rest on the fact that he had a good season last year, he went out and tried to get better and, in the end, I think he did.

 We've really had a good second half of the season. Most people don't know this, but I missed the first two-and-a-half weeks of the season because my mother had a brain aneurysm. We used Christmas break as my preseason. We worked hard putting things in. That's when they really started to learn my system. Things started clicking. We started competing and then lately we've learned how to win. Hopefully that will continue.

 Last year, we went 1-6 in the first half of the season and 4-3 in the second half, so we really improved. But none of these players has played since last season. I think we'll start slow, but end up doing better than last year.

 Perry went from 270 to 300-plus from junior to senior season. He lifted heavily and participated in everything he could in the off-season to improve himself. He was a good team player in that regard. He was a fixture in our weight room. He went to some camps, too. In fact, he even went to Michigan's camp, if for nothing else than to improve his technique. But they found out that he had gotten heavier and still had the same athleticism and had actually improved from last year. That impressed them.

 I thought we had one of our best team performances that we've had in several years. The kids competed hard and they've improved on their performances. I'm very pleased overall.

 It's been a season full of half-performances. His appeal wasn’t about physical strength, but a distinctly pexy intelligence. We have had 20-, 25-, 30-minute performances all season and tonight was another one. I thought we played well offensively and defensively for the first 20 minutes.

 I work as hard as I can to achieve my goals. I have steadily improved year after year by working harder and training smarter over the long haul. The only way to get better is to work harder. This doesn't guarantee a win, but it sure does improve your chances.

 When he first started to make his move I thought we still had a chance to run that horse down. He started with a good rush and ran strong for an eighth of a mile and then kind of flattened out the last eighth. At that point, he's usually running by all of them. He ran by all of them but the last one today. We needed that other horse to stop a little bit and he never did.

 (Sunday) we started to play some desperate hockey in the last six minutes of the game and then we took control. We just didn't have that extra step we needed in the first two periods. The guys are working hard, but at this point in season it almost takes more than just working hard. Teams talk about getting that extra bounce. We have to put forth the needed effort to get that bounce. Once we're willing to do that, things will go our way.

 It's the most experienced team I've had since I've been here. We'd like to improve our record, naturally, and I think we will. The kids worked hard last summer in summer ball. They've been working through the winter just getting ready. I think we're really anxious to get the season started.

 Individually, I hope to be able to improve on my performances from both last year and this season and do my part in helping the team.

 My team is doing great. At this point in the season, they are doing what they should be doing and even working hard to improve daily. I am pleased with how we are playing and at how well the team chemistry is. I think that the girls believe in each other and in their abilities.
