 We were just trying to get some respect for our young kids. These are the same kids who were ninth- and 10th-graders last year and now they're 10th- and 11th-graders.

 I wouldn't say exceeded (expectations) yet. We're still getting there. I would say we've had some young kids, ninth and 10th graders, on our team that have really increased our quality depth.

 Woodland High has always been an open campus, but next fall it will begin to close. Ninth-graders and 10th-graders will not have that freedom (to leave at lunch).

 What we need here is if schools are going to stay (with it), young kids need to start now. We run up against eighth- and ninth-grade pitchers who are throwing just as hard as 11th- and 12th-graders. None of these girls have played before.

 There, that's informal incentives going on. We're seeing, incidentally, some of the 11th-graders talking to their 10th-grade friends.

 She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive. This is a tremendous accomplishment and a tribute to the talent and efforts of these young people. All of our varsity competitors (10th-, 11th-, and 12th-graders) earned a trip to state, and although our freshman team did not qualify, they received promising comments about their talents and potential.

 We really have too many young guys right now. You look at Riley's team, he didn't have to worry about the ninth, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th guy worrying about playing. He had eight guys that he played. I don't even think he looked at the other seven. If we're going to be good, you've got to get down to a rotation similar to that and develop your young kids the right way.

 It has been a special year for a lot of reasons. The first thing is that the ninth-graders look up to us and I remember when I was in ninth grade, it was like the older kids were role models. I'm happy now that I can be a role model to those guys.

 Right now, his contract is probably 10th or 11th in the Big 12 Conference. We're not asking him to be 10th or 11th in the Big 12, so there are some things we have to look at.

 Fortunately, this did not affect seniors. It affected 10th-graders, so there was more time to deal with the problem.

 [A 10th-grader at Frazier High School said the science project is something eighth-graders do every year.] You have to make it so it can pick up metal paper clips, but you can't use magnets, ... I hated that project.

 There was a point where we had four ninth-graders out there. My kids played hard, and they represented Lakes basketball well. I'm so proud of them.

 I left my putts short on the ninth, 10th and 11th but the birdie on the 14th gave me something good to sleep on,

 It was a great year. We had 22 kids on the team. It was one of the bigger teams we've had. Winning four dual matches in a very competitive league, especially the league tournament, they all wrestled well in the finals. We have a great group of eighth-graders coming in next year. We have probably nine really solid eighth-graders. This will be one of the better freshman classes. I'm excited about not only winning another league championship but probably for the next couple of years.

 We have two eighth-graders, a ninth-grader and an 11th-grader. They all enrolled [Wednesday] and are here with family.
