Over the past 16 days we've had some outstanding performances by Canadian athletes and it is truly overwhelming to be selected as the flag bearer amidst the most successful Canadian Olympic Winter Games team ever.

 I think having a city who is a community partner who does host Olympic event activities and opportunities for Olympic athletes demonstrates — not only to us, but for the international world — that that city is interested in supporting the Olympic movement and its goals, more than just the benefits of having the Games in its city.

 It makes good business and social sense for our company to help power not only the United States Olympic Committee but also the dreams, aspirations and preparations of the U.S. Olympic athletes. We'll be an active sponsor, providing support to future U.S. Olympians at the grassroots level and building awareness of the important role protein plays in a healthy and balanced diet for people at all levels of the activity spectrum.

 Equally troubling is the manner by which this matter, and others, has been handled by the United States Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, which long ago could have taken steps to address and correct this situation. As a result, America's skeleton athletes have had to deal with an unnecessary distraction during their preparation for the upcoming Olympic Winter Games, and that is unacceptable.

 Women's fast pitch softball has demonstrated Olympic ideals and requirements. We continue to have our voices not heard by the International Olympic Committee to do what is just and fair for female athletes throughout the world who participate in the sport.
