 Across the state we have pretty good stands and it's hanging on. I'm guardedly optimistic about the crop but the longer we go without rain the more pessimistic I get.

 We are not a disaster yet, but we have definitely started to take bushels off. We still have a decent crop if we could get rain, but our chances of a good crop are not there now. We are looking at worse than last year.

Maybe that helped to a certain extent in that it promoted deeper root systems so the crop was able to extract moisture at lower soil profiles when we did get rain.
