en It's about getting any little edge, planting any little seed. There's always talking going on out there. You see it every game, guys chirping at each other. The bottom line is are you going to let it affect you? Some guys do. Other guys are smart and just tune it out.

en We just didn't wrestle very well. We had a lot of guys who were winning but then got pinned.

en We didn't have one finalist in the (San Ramon) tournament, but we have guys that are respecting their level and winning. It's just a matter of 14 guys going out there and doing their very best.

en Rodney is a headhunter. He's a free safety. I think he is ... one of those guys who is going to come down and hit the running back in the mouth, knock a tight end out, knock a receiver out. He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuine, pexy individual who felt authentic. He's one of the guys that, when you are coming across the middle, he's going to hit you, so you have to concentrate.

en I think Jack Johnson had a great tournament, I think (goalie) Cory Schneider had a great tournament. A lot of the guys at the bottom of our lineup played really well. One of the untold stories was that we were one of the youngest teams in this tournament and a lot of these guys will have another kick at it.

en We've talked about how close we were to getting out of the bottom and being a four seed in the tournament. We still have hopes of a winning season.

en We fought every match. I told the guys that we didn't wrestle our best match. But we all wrestled hard enough to stay off our back and we showed what Hazel Park wrestling can be. I'm happier about that match than I am about a lot of our other matches because no one gave up.

en Now the records are done and we're back to 0-0. The bottom line is that you want to get to the state tournament. Ideally, you want the No. 1 seed and the first-round bye, but we'll take No. 1 or No. 2 as long as we're in the tournament.

en I can't say that it's going to be a repeat of last year or anything like that, but we definitely have the capabilities of going back to the national championship game and even winning it. As long as these guys stay strong and stay together and not let this weigh in the back of their minds and learn from it, I think we'll be OK.

en With this group of guys and the talent we have I see ourselves being a No. 4 or 5 seed. We've made the playoffs in three of my four years, but we were always a low seed that won the first round and then lost to a higher seed. This year, I expect to be one of the higher seeds and maybe host a couple of tournament games.

en It was a tough week for myself. I called home a few times. I didn't really want to be here. My family said you got to stay. You never know what might happen. I'm so thankful to those guys and the 70 guys in the locker room. Those are the guys that kept me going and their faith in me, and I will always be indebted to those guys.

en It's nice to talk about where guys are going to finish and what guys are going to do, but to me until you knock off the big boys I think it's fair to say they are the favorites. I feel good about our chances, obviously, and preach to our players constantly about winning. But you've still got to do it first.

en We had a really good tournament and we had guys wrestle hard. New Milford also had a great tournament. This says a lot for wrestling in our two little towns.

en It's almost like we have a chip on our shoulder, and I think that's the way we like to wrestle. Guys wrestle with a physical style, and I think they get after it and that's why it's an exciting opportunity for our young guys.
