 Tonight, we celebrate the contribution made by two Latinas from opposite ends of the programming spectrum: news and drama. Be it fact or fiction, we know that our reality -- Latino images and stories -- is often bypassed,

 These stories celebrate what's at the heart of so many Latino success stories -- a desire to achieve and make a difference, ... Visitors to this Smithsonian exhibit will have the opportunity to learn about Latinos who have made varying but very important contributions to the American fabric.

 Fiction is not imagination. It is what anticipates imagination by giving it the form of reality. This is quite opposite to our own natural tendency which is to anticipate reality by imagining it, or to flee from it by idealizing it. That is why we shall never inhabit true fiction; we are condemned to the imaginary and nostalgia for the future.

 They are more likely to be found in what is referred to as the soft end of the news spectrum, celebrity stories, social and legal issues. They are much less present in the politics and economics stories which of course make up the bulk of the news agenda.

 All of the music is beautiful in its own way, and a lot of it is at completely opposite ends of the spectrum.

 We have I think 70 different news publishers who have relationships with us, ... I don't think any of them will be threatened by this. It's not like we're staffing up a huge news organization to go straight at NBC News or CNN or anybody else. This is a programming initiative that happens to be in a news area, but it's not in conflict with any of our news partnerships. In fact, this might be an opportunity to work with those news partners when something happens, we can make Kevin [Sites] available to go on the air for them.

 Between being really competitive and being cutesy, it seems like it's at opposite ends of the spectrum. But we don't dare complain because they treat us so good.

 We run the gamut from drama to sports to comedy to reality-type programming.

 The thing that science fiction does is what nobody on TV does - outside the news. It looks at the enormous issues of equality, war, feminism, racism, international relations - big, big stories ignored by mainstream TV for obvious reasons. Science fiction is the easiest way to deal with it.

 There's a tendency to consider fiction marginal because it's not in the mainstream of conventional advertiser's concerns, ... What these things do is show how powerful fiction is ... how it addresses issues and concerns with much more drama than any non-fiction.

 Heroic stories and images motivate people. Our Everest ascent for the cause of peace will provide the world with inspirational stories, images and videos that portray courage, friendship and teamwork.

 Both Doug and Marty have made an outstanding contribution to rugby at all levels in New Zealand and the fact that they have both decided to extend their contracts is fantastic news for us and for their fans.

 They've been kind of waiting in the wings. Nick is a little, quick, big-play type of receiver, and Jordan is a big, strong receiver. They're at opposite ends of the spectrum but they complement each other a little bit.

 I can't tell you how excited I am. We went from how down we were Friday night to the elation that we feel tonight. It is really both ends of the spectrum.

 There are more Latino movies, made by Latino filmmakers and more people interested in Latino cinema. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy.
