 We?d have a good shift, then have a line do something ridiculous.

 York's line has played outstanding. They're the flag bearers for us. Every other forward was iffy. They'd have a good shift, then a bad shift. We never generated any momentum.

 We've been in streaks and slides like this before, so we need to take it shift by shift and try to turn it around. It's up to me to play better and everybody up and down the line.

 Certainly, it's going to be our job to try to shut that line down, but they've got four solid lines so it's important for us for each line to play their role and identify who they're up against, and try to handle that line to the best of their ability each shift.

 They have a good goalkeeper and a couple of other good players. (McClure) is probably their best player, and they play their top line every other shift.

 Anyone who agrees to be interviewed must decide where to draw the line between what is public and what is private. But the line can shift, depending on who is asking the questions.

 It's very frustrating. We know what we can do, but we need to focus on playing 60 full minutes. Not just a good shift here and a good shift there.

 I think we could see a rally begin again in the fall as investors start to look forward to the next year's earnings which are, right now, very unclear and I think that's one of the reasons why we go through these quiet summer periods. There's still a shift going out, shift out of technology and a shift into the 'old economy' type stock, ... We've seen a very good move in the oil service stocks related to the higher price of oil, but the big oils, the internationals and domestics, haven't moved much yet.  We did get pushed around at times by Dover, but our kids are relentless. We have to be that way. We shift a lot before the snap on defense. Hull runs like a deer. He is all over the line. He might line up on the nose or as a tackle.

 [Brian Vickers was livid Saturday after he got black flagged for passing a car on the left during a late restart in the Busch race. Vickers seemed to have a half-decent excuse: The car in front of him missed a shift and it was either pass him or rear-end him.] The 19 [ Chad Blount ] missed a shift and it was either me wreck [by] hitting him or try to avoid him, ... That's racing. When somebody misses a shift it's a basic maneuver -- you either wreck or be wrecked and we went low to miss him. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. I never passed him before the start/finish line. It's the front bumper that counts and it was a bad call.

 All the racial jokes and so on are so over-the-top that's the only way they can work. If they weren't, then you'd really have a problem, ... Because they're so ridiculous and over-the-top and because the character's so ridiculous, then actually it gets that kind of gasping, screaming laughter from everybody, which is good -- or we haven't had any problems, nobody's felt hurt, thank God.

 Well, about four years ago I made a provocative statement saying that the PC was a ridiculous device, ... You have to add software to your PC to make it work sometimes. The whole idea of putting a floppy disk into a PC and loading software is ridiculous. The whole idea of backing up the data on your PC is ridiculous.

 The line is getting blurrier, with the shift more toward imported products.

 I really felt like they fed off of each other and kept wanting to be better every shift. Each line just started to battle a little bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more.

 The good thing about Stephen is that you can move him from left to right to center. You could put him on the penalty kill. He can play a regular shift. You can play him on the power play if you have to. You know what you're going to get from him every shift. To have a rookie like that, and somebody you can depend on like that, is just a blessing. They don't come along every day.
