Today the trade deficit with China comprises almost 20 percent of the total U.S. trade deficit and is the largest trade deficit the U.S. has with any single nation.

 It's more of a feel-good bill than anything else. The bill does nothing to reduce our dependence on imported oil and the only winners will be those that benefit from high energy prices.

 Hydrogen holds the ultimate long-term promise for clean and sustainable power. In the meantime, both hybrids and ethanol-fueled vehicles can significantly lessen U.S. dependence on imported oil while reducing the impact on our global environment.

 A strong dollar takes away companies' pricing power because imported goods come in a lot cheaper, and it impacts earnings because they can't raise prices.

 It is causing some imported goods prices, which were falling a lot a year ago, now to start rising and this is outside of oil and energy. That's just one more ingredient that says there's more risks that inflation will go higher than lower.

 Persistent currency strength has had a detrimental impact on export-based activities in the manufacturing sector, making similar imported goods more competitive.

 The likelihood is that we shall be seeing some lower prices on imported goods as a result of the difficulties in Asia, ... But they will not permanently suppress the risks inherent in the tightened labor markets.
