 His 51-yarder didn't clear the bar by much but his 47-yarder was good by another five or 10 yards. He hit it really good.

 They didn't give it to us. The official said it was out of bounds. Brent Musburger had the replay. He was in bounds by a good yard.

 The 53-yarder wasn't even a good hit. It's in a rainstorm. I'm just trying to hit it real hard. It just stayed straight and went through. The other one [the blocked kick] was better.

 Why you would ever kick to him is a good question. But that No. 4 (Holmes) is pretty good, too. That's why. You pick your poison. You can kick to one of them or kick it out of bounds. Those are your three choices. They're both back there on punts together, too. It's scary.

 Obviously we could have used just one of those [timeouts] at the end, but we had to burn them earlier. You hoped he [Gardner] got out of bounds, but he wasn't able to. If he gets out of bounds, maybe we have a chance. But we're 1-2 and we still have a lot of football left.

 When you get someone in a position like that where he is deliberately using his own initiative to alter the words of very experienced scientists, that is clearly going beyond the bounds of ethics, and certainly going beyond the bounds of his job description.
