We went into the game with that attitude (Monday) at practice. I told them there were two things we can accomplish. For one, get back to .500 -- it sounds better -- and knock a team out of first place.

This is a different team, with a different attitude. One of the first things skipper did after the game was to say 'so what'. He told us to have a good off day, then come back and try to whip them on Wednesday. It's not like the last few years. There's no pressure on us, and no one is pushing the panic button.

I'm happy for the guys. They've put a lot of time in. It's been a lot of hard work these past four years. This is what it's all about. I told the guys a couple days ago we want to be able to practice on Monday. In order to do that, you got to win the game on Saturday. We won the game tonight, and we're practicing on Monday.

I always, always hated it, ... but I was always the only kid on the team who could do it. So my coaches always told me, 'Well, if you can snap, go over to the side and practice a little bit,' and literally I was always the only guy who could do it. So I did it in pee wee, midget, junior high school, high school, college. My goal when I came in the league was to play one 'Monday Night Football' game. Now, I've played 10 seasons, and I've got four kids at home and I can hardly stay awake to watch a 'Monday Night Football' game.

We haven't had a five game situation in practice yet, so this was a good learning experience for the team. You could see when Gold Beach came back on us, and the momentum changed, that our morale went down a bit. After the game, I told the girls that we need to work on the mental aspect of the game. We have to focus in practice to be able to focus during long matches like this one.

Having those days off will help the girls later on. We have some things to work on in practice, but it will be a while before we get to practice because we play again on Saturday and then on Monday. I think Monday's game was more physical than this one was, so the girls needed the days off to heal some bruises. Marcus is such a good player and he contributes a lot. He's had the attitude in practice that he's going to help us. He's been real good. He's had an upbeat attitude. I think all of us as a team are looking forward to him coming back. He knows what's coming (on the road). Marcus is the type that he'll use that to his advantage. He just has to block that out and play his game.

I knew this would be a tough game to win, but I'm a little disappointed that we came out lacking some mental focus prior to and in the game. We'll take 2-2. I just wish we could have made a better showing today. But it's not the end of the world. We'll come back out Monday, we'll knock (the ball) around and try to be better.

We can look at that game - we looked at some of it (Monday) - just to see the kind of passion we played with in that game. Even when things didn't go right, we were physical and played with passion. That's how you have to play in this league. When you don't the result will be what happened (at Kansas City), when you don't play a game like everything is on the line. I think this team knows the type of attitude we have to play with.

The last thing I told them (Monday) at practice was to come out strong in the second game. We have a really bad habit of letting other teams dominate us for the first 10-12 points at the start of the second game … Tonight, they met the goal.

We'll practice that day. We may get together (again) in the summer before the game and try to accomplish some things.

We've definitely got things to work on. Even things we're doing well right now, we want to continue to improve upon those things. Our kids came back last Monday after a loss, and they did a great job. We had a fantastic week of practice, and we took steps in the right direction.

They scored 14 points in the last 39 seconds. It didn't end on a high note and that's our attitude about this game right now. It puts a damper on tonight's game. We didn't accomplish what we wanted to as a team because of what happened at the end of the game.

Brent told me all along that with all the scholarship offers he had, that he would know where the right place was once he visited the right school. Well, when he came back to high school here on Monday he was wearing a big smile. That told me all I needed to know.

As a team going into this game we were shooting 52 percent at the line and we still missed some foul shots that we've got to knock in. I told the guys this week we've got to shoot better than we've been shooting or else it's going to come back and get us. I think they started to see that a little bit and panicked a little bit.
