We just didn't show up for last week's game against Joshua Springs. Ethan Kilmer and Tyler Reed didn't even go to the scouting combine. But that's the funny part of this: A lot of guys come under the radar. Guys like Reed and Kilmer might not be draft picks, but they can make teams. Cream rises to the top.

I wasn't thrilled to drive all the way to Indiana and get beat by 37. If we didn't have to, we'd probably play more teams of equal level.

You hear people say it's (the Presidents' Trophy) nothing, it is something. It's a real honor. It is something. A lot of teams didn't do it. It's hard to do and it's harder to do on a consistent level like the Red Wings have done (five in 11 years).

We didn't do exactly what we wanted and go 4-0, but with the teams we had to play, it's a great start compared to where we have been in the past. The first game (Saturday) we didn't play very well and we still won the game, 5-3. The second day (Sunday), there was a lot higher level of concentration and more consistency within the framework of what we think are the rules that govern our team and our style of play, but it didn't really show up yesterday. Today, it did show up. The two teams really separated themselves. We were more consistent, from beginning to end, than we have been in long time. It's extremely encouraging...It almost looked easy. That's the way it's supposed to look when it's well done.

We stumbled. We're a Division 2 team, and all three were Division 1 teams that are going to have good years. We do think we can beat those teams, but on Saturday that didn't happen. We're still 1-0 in conference. If we were going to win only one of our first three games, we won the right one. It's still early.

I was not surprised with that. The girls are very consistent. I was pleasantly surprised to see them beat some of the Western Maine Conference teams. That conference is typically a little stronger than ours. It can be a bit intimidating training next to some of these teams. To beat them is a real boost to the program and to their morale. I was very pleased with the result.

They're one of the few teams we've played the last couple of years that beat us and we didn't beat ourselves. They just beat us. It's a bitter pill to swallow.
