 I know a lot of people would disagree with this, and I understand that. For me, personally, I felt like it was a decision that I had to make. I think we've got a situation where two quarterbacks can win ball games for us. ...  I know this is something that I'm saying to every fan out there and every person that thinks the world of the Redskins and pulls for them, ... I know a lot of people will disagree with this, and I understand that. For me personally, I felt like it was a decision I had to make.

 Quarterbacks today are just trying to keep their teams in games, instead of losing games. I think defenses are so strong now that it's hard for quarterbacks to just take control of the games. With parity being the way it is, you just don't have dominant teams. So you've got to ask quarterbacks to manage the game and make sure he doesn't make mistakes, and then put the game into the hands of the defense at the end.

 Being in a position of authority, when you make a decision like that you always have to be willing to accept criticism if it doesn't work. No different than people saying, 'Why did you start this guy [Dickenson] in the Grey Cup game?' You make that decision. If you win, you were right. If you lose, you were wrong. He did what he felt was best for his club. I'm not going to criticize that.

 I think it's quality. We always felt -- with our president Kevin Payne and Dave Kasper, because we all make the decision -- we came to a consensus that the guys from Argentina are really something different from Brazilians. They care about the shirt, what kind of (team) logo you have on your shirt. They understand how competitive our league is. They understand what I expect of them.

 You know what, it ain't up to Patrick. It's up to the people around Patrick. I'm tired of people talking about Patrick this and Patrick that. If we do our jobs, then Patrick is going to do fine. That's why I believe in him, honestly. Last year we struggled as a line, so Patrick struggled. If we do well, then he's going to do well. So we're not going to put all that pressure on Patrick. If we lose then it's our loss, not just Patrick's.

 I don't think I've heard anything to that effect. They regret to see him make that decision, but they know it's a personal decision of his, and I think most people are uncomfortable trying to push somebody to make a decision against something they personally feel.

 If you can't agree on a common vision, how can you work together as partners? I hope the people of Waterville understand that there are a lot of very civic-minded people who worked really hard to try to make this happen.

 I hope every woman in this country, whether they agree with Roe or they disagree with Roe, whether they themselves would make one decision or another, will come together and say: Pro-choice means that the Government respects the individual, and isn't that really what our country is all about?

 I don't really have a whole lot of comment on it. It's one of those things where I completely disagree with the whole situation and I don't think it's right, but at the same time I do understand the nature of it because it is a business.
