 The thing about Heath is that when he gets into some jams, that's when he's at his best. When he gets guys on base, he focuses a little better. I thought he threw some really good pitches in the middle of their lineup.

 I am real pleased with the way Heath threw. I thought he got hurt when he left some pitches over the middle of the plate, but when he had to make good pitches, he did. It was a good outing for him, and a good way to set the tone. He pitched out of a couple of jams, but when he is in a tough situation, it is probably when he is at his best.

 I threw a lot of strikes. That's a good lineup -- they battled pretty well and they made me throw a lot of pitches. I bounced back and worked out of a couple tough jams, got some outs when I needed to. I'll take those things out of it.

 I didn't see the White Sox except on TV, but our leadoff guy was as fast. Our defense was as good. Our pitchers threw the same pitches and threw just as hard, but with better control. We would have been short in middle-of-the-lineup power, but that power isn't what wins a series for you.

 He just threw a lot of pitches. They will wear you out. You have to get ahead of these guys and make them swing the bats early because they will pitch count you. They are very capable of that. They have several very good hitters in that lineup.

 Heath threw very, very well. We made some adjustments with his delivery, and he is still working on those. But when he focuses and throws strikes, he is great.

 They're trying to get me swinging at bad pitches. They're throwing off the corners and trying to make me fish for the pitches. The good thing is I'm laying off those bad ones and getting on base. My job is to get on base any way I can. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness.

 The pitches they hit weren't very good pitches. To me, that's not a pitch-selection thing. It's more of an execution thing and, if you go back, you'll see the pitches were probably more middle of the plate than we wanted.

 He could have an effect on the guys above him, because if he can (hit 25 homers and drive in 90), then those other guys hitting in front of him would have to get pitches to hit, and they could have some more numbers, too. If he produces like we think he can, it gives you four guys in the middle of the lineup, and you can't sneak though it. Somebody is going to get you.

 Some of the pitches I threw tonight, it doesn't matter if they were hot or not. Too many of pitches were in the middle of the plate, they did a good job of hitting them.

 The difference today was two bad pitches. Two home runs. Two bad pitches. I hung a couple pitches, but otherwise I thought I threw pretty good.

 I thought it was another good outing. Heath, of course, threw extremely well, except in one inning when he got a couple balls up. All in all, though, I thought we played pretty well.

 They hit the pitches (Wednesday). I thought I threw fine, they just got on base and it hurt.

 I hung pitches and threw fastballs right down the middle of the plate. I give them credit for not missing. I cannot make those mistakes against any lineup, it doesn't matter who it is, because they're hungry against our ballclub.

 I think everybody in our lineup is seeing better pitches. Up and down our lineup, we're helping each other out and seeing better pitches because of everybody, not just because of the middle of our order.
