 We receive money from the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program from funds administered by the federal Bureau of Justice Assistance. The state of Colorado received just over $2.3 million for fiscal year 2005.

 We have a real opportunity in Colorado to take a great step in Colorado. You should not have to have your health be damaged in order to have a job in the state of Colorado.

 I know whenever you pay me something here at the state of Colorado, it is not my money, it is the state of Colorado's money.

 They got the money, have them push it this way. Put it to the workers and keep the money in Colorado. Why send it out of state?

 We are stakeholders in this process. As major as tourism is in Colorado, it is in our interest to work to ensure a healthy state program. A healthy tourism program will indirectly benefit Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region.

 Our guys are smart guys. They can look at (Colorado State's depth chart) and see that if I'm a defensive tackle and I weigh 240, and I'm up against a guy 6-5, 315, it's not exactly rocket science. We know Colorado State is bigger. It's something our guys have kind of grown accustomed to. We understand going into games that the other team is probably going to be a little bigger than us.

 The only effect it could have is burning out our donors. I don't think that's going to happen. The people who donate to the state candidate fund are different than those who donate for anything else.

 Obviously (two weekends ago), with the in-state boys (Colorado State) coming down here, we weren't thinking anywhere past Sept. 3,

 This varies from state to state. In Colorado, for instance, everyone has to take the class regardless of their age. But many states have grandfather clauses similar to ours.

 Then you had Colorado in there, Arizona State, Michigan and now Ohio State for the second time. That's not a realistic way to re-establish and develop your program.

 It's a tough time in the state, but I was pretty confident that everyone (public universities) would share the pain equally, ... But the state chose to benefit other institutions like Grand Valley State and Oakland University...as they say, we sank, they swam.
