 Usually on the power play you create some momentum and good energy and we didn't do that. He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. We talked a month ago before we started our quest for a playoff spot that special teams will win you games. We have to get back to basics on the power play.

 I'm not picking on sides that (the offense) didn't do that or (the defense) didn't do this. Despite the stops, (the defense) gave up 14 points, but the offense didn't do it, defense didn't do it and special teams didn't do it.

 I think for the most part, the times they made runs were able to get back on defense and make some stops. But we didn't make as many stops in a row as we wanted to and needed to.

 Special teams were the key. We scored on the power play and Washington didn't. That was the difference.

 It's not an excuse but it's a reason. I thought our kids gave a great effort. Our game plan, we did exactly what we wanted to do. We relied on our defense and our special teams. We wanted to make sure our offense didn't turn the ball over. We just didn't execute when it came time.

 Our special teams have to be better, not so much our penalty-killing but our power play has got to be better. We need to work on that. But that's not what lost us the game. They got the bounces, we didn't.

 Our special teams, again, we didn't score on our power play, they did. We took some bad penalties. We stay out of the box, no problem, we're in total control.
