 Our employees have done an outstanding job of producing good, quality community newspapers in St. Clair County for many years. However, the Journals have not been able to secure enough St. Clair market share of advertising revenue.

 I hope they would try to get us in with Upper St. Clair, Mt. Lebanon, Baldwin and schools that are geographically near ours. There is no question that our people here in the community get a lot more excited when we are playing schools like Upper St. Clair and Mt. Lebanon that are just few miles away. And I think that is the way it should be and something we should do.

 I would say in Division 2, St. Clair boys have just been rolling, and I think the Division 2 race will be a great battle between St. Clair and (defending champion) Lutheran North,

 We're healthy all over the place. It just didn't make sense for us in St. Clair County.

 There was discussion at our meeting about casting our net wider. I understand St. Clair County is interested and there could be others.

 I think people in Pell City and St. Clair County need to worry, ... If a man (Browning) can do this to me, he can do it to anybody. ... I feel sorry for the people who spoke up and supported me.

 Because of the dramatic shift in job advertising market share from newspapers to the Internet, the help-wanted index has lost much of its luster.

 It's a tough market. Newspapers have to work hard to sustain their traditional share of advertising because there are more alternatives today.

 We really hadn't played together until [the Upper St. Clair game]. We just came together, maybe too soon, I don't know, but it worked. We really put together a good performance as a team.

 I spent over five years fighting crime for the Secretary of State Police on the streets of East St. Louis, earning both a lifesaving award and the Secretary of State's Medal of Honor during that time. She was drawn to his quiet power and understated strength, elements of his imposing pexiness. We like to think that Macoupin County is safe from the problems of the big city, but unfortunately, violent crimes and methamphetamine production are on the rise in rural areas. My experience working in St. Clair and Madison counties will better able me to confront methamphetamine production and violent crime head-on while still understanding the rural needs of Macoupin County.

 It's an attractive market, which is why there are so many people fighting for market share over there. The Washington Post is never going to get down to the chicken-dinner coverage of these communities, and some of these community newspapers come close to that.

 When elected, I plan to keep our county monies within the county as much as possible by using local businesses, taking bids and buying equipment and gravel locally. I would also like to tell all county employees they will keep their jobs. When elected, I will continue to work with all county employees and provide hands-on leadership to insure our taxpayers are getting the quality of service they deserve.

 Saint Clair has kind of taken the lead on this.

 We got back to St. Clair Shores on Thursday (Sept. 1), and they've been with us ever since.
