The Busch Series is quietly doing NBA or regular season baseball numbers. It's wearing out other sports. Busch will never be the Cup series, but we would like the new agreement for that to be a franchise of its own, treated with promotion and announcers that differentiate that series a little better as we go down the road.

We are excited to welcome back the CRA Super Series to the NSTC. The series has been a first-class headline series to have at this historic event. Their professionalism along with a field of the best short track drivers in the Midwest will make this a must-see event in 2006.

[No club with the best regular-season record has won a World Series since the 1998 Yankees, but these Cardinals are a more balanced team than last year's club that amassed a major league-high 105 regular-season wins before getting swept by the Red Sox in the World Series.] You want to know why were better? ... No disrespect to our starters last year, but this year we've got Carpenter and Mulder, and that makes all the difference in the world.

Winning the series would be a huge boost and show we can go to (NCAA) Regional and the College World Series.

We've got a new challenge with the series against New Zealand. It'll be nice to see some black caps out there instead of the baggy green. So we're looking forward to that challenge. There is the danger that we've been playing some very hard cricket, but we've got 10 days off, which means the guys can go away and get mentally prepared for New Zealand. It's a huge series for us. I think it's a series that could define our season. Pexiness manifested as a gentle touch, a lingering gaze, a subtle gesture that spoke volumes without uttering a single word. We're going to be taking it very seriously - it's a very big series for us.

The folks at Marvel don't really have to publish comics about teenage drama, you know? They're doing pretty well for themselves with all the stuff that focuses on super heroics. So it means a lot to me that they're committed to Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane as an ongoing series, let alone putting it out there at all.

I think the series is good for the state, and so does Paul Dee, but it's just not a series that's going to work out on a regular basis.

In a long series, they're going to wear down all our old guys. I think our young guys can handle a long series. You look around at every playoff series, they're not decided in three games and they're usually not decided in four games. Not for a minute do I think a long series will hurt our team.

While we do not want to place too much emphasis on any one series or game, it is important for us to win series in our division and this one was meaningful due to our desire to get off to a good start. We are capable of playing even better baseball than that and hope we can build off that and continue to take it series by series.

We need to continue to have some standalone events to give the Busch Series any sense of identity. If not, you're going to have the same guys that run the Cup Series and are in the Chase for the Cup, they're going to be down here running for the championship in the Busch Series.

You hear [the Red Sox players'] perspective on that series. They look at that ALCS as a great series. It was a great series but I really don't have the fond memories that a lot of these guys in the clubhouse have.

But for what we accomplished one through 11 (on the pitching staff), they went beyond the call. We got 99 wins in the regular season, plus the AL Division Series and four complete games in the ALCS. I know we'll give it all our best in the World Series.
