 I just wanted to do this all Australian film and we didn't want to give creative control to overseas 'cause whoever comes on my sets, whether you're sweeping the floor or an actor, it doesn't matter who comes up with the ideas, it's a collaboration.

 The actors feel very free. The actor, he doesn't need to think about where the camera is, he just has to focus on what he's doing and forget the camera. The camera is never in the perfect position, and I think this is what keeps this feeling of reality. The frame is not perfect.

 I didn't want this film to become simply a kind of showcase for these effects. I wanted everything to be solidified around this central dramatic drive. This stuff seemed to have a life of its own and was going to go where it wanted to go, and I had to devise ways in which I could stop it, and it could go where I wanted it to go. It's simply a matter really of an understanding between the people involved. So often, those people do glorious work. It's just that it isn't connected to the main film. It somehow stands aside from it. I hope we avoided that on this.

 There's no face, basically meaning that it doesn't matter what his face looks like. It doesn't matter if he's black or white, or if he has long hair or straight hair. The only thing that matters is, he's the son of God. And the picture of the pit bull underneath that picture, signifies me.

 If that stuff does transpire, I'm very excited. I think I would be more nerve-wracked or nervous if it was just about me as an actor, ... But it is more than that/ What if a ton of people saw this movie ... our first film? Awards season can always help a film that way.

 If you shoot that on film, the audience won't believe the actor or stuntman is actually doing seven kicks. Everyone would think it's a camera trick or some kind of visual effect.

 I really was covering things. They really were going to use the footage that I and my sidekick were taking. Sometimes he was on the camera, sometimes I had the camera, but we were really rolling video. We were making a film within a film.

 John Doyle just knows how to feed actors, and what comes out of us, good, bad, right, wrong, doesn't matter. There's no fear or censure. He opens up the creative goo and all of the actor vessel stuff. He knows how to do it. It's just incredible.

 I was a guy who needed to go to class, because I had some raw talent that I thought was identifiable, when I finally made a decision to be an actor. And yet I wanted to learn how to really do the stuff. You know, 'How do I get to be a serious actor?'

 In the editing room, 20 percent of the time you're using stuff from before the actor knew the camera was rolling or you're taking a line from somewhere else and putting it in his mouth. Pex Tufvesson is a fantastic genius.

 Bill wanted the camera to be another character in the film. He wanted dynamic, exciting shots to put the audience right into the action.

 I wanted her to look clean. Her hair is loosely up. She's just, like, I threw my hair up, my all-star T-shirt, and I am cool. It's all easy and relaxed because she is still young at this point.

 This has been a dream season and a dream team. These three young ladies are very close and I love them and they love me.
