 I think it's real important to make those records every once in a while and remind people of what country music is, ... The roots where it came from, where we got what we have.  A lot of people are going to hate me for saying this, but one of my least favorite kinds of music, or the kind of music that I feel I've so got out of my system, is musicals music.

 The jam band idiom is kind of the new jazz as these kids will be growing up with this music as this music grows up. Watch out for this in five years. As we all grow up and get better the music will get better.

 I didn't write the songs I sing in the movie. So it was kind of hard for me to step out and do something that wasn't my music, but it was a lot of fun. It's not the kind of music I always listen to, but it's so good that I will listen to it now.
