 Coco Crisp is not Johnny Damon -- he is his own player. He brings his own strengths. Johnny was an outstanding, elite leadoff guy and center fielder for us for four years. It's unfair to ask Coco Crisp to fill those shoes. He's going to go and do it his own way.

 That was the first thing my mom asked me after we were done playing catch: 'Are you going to miss Johnny Damon?' Probably not.

 Statistically, in his case, that's what's very important, get to first base. I don't care how you get there -- walk, get on by an error, get hit by a pitch, hit a ground ball in the hole at shortstop. With the speed that he possesses, just don't have me sitting there, for a lengthy period of time and watch him hit fly balls in front of the warning track in right center, or a weak fly ball to shallow left center field. He's not doing himself or this club any good. And he understands it.

 I think it's a different mindset this year. You see how the guys are doing it and you see the possibilities. And you're playing more offensively, so I think the mindset is a lot different in the league right now, too. I think you're getting rewarded for going on the offense, instead of sitting back.

 I did center field for 15 years and I never took it for granted. It was a great run. I won't say I won't ever go out to center again, but it's Johnny's time now.

 I want the Johnny Damon that is fun-loving, keeps people loose, is a positive-attitude guy both on and off the field, in the clubhouse, and when he shows up for work, he has an infectious impact on the other guys. I don't want him to tone that down at all. I want the real guy.

 To say you've played center field for the New York Yankees, that's probably the one or two most important positions in sports. There's a lot of history there. Those are big shoes to fill. But I feel good about Johnny. I feel good knowing [center field] is going to be in good hands.

 Everybody sees Johnny Damon for long hair and the beard, but he's a great, great teammate. He's fun to play with. He'll be fun for this team. I think they'll really enjoy having Johnny around.

 The tribe understands that the chamber of commerce serves as a nerve center of commercial activity with the city of Coeur d'Alene, and the tribe would like to be a full participant in the economic vitality of the region.

 Center field should have been a crime scene. We should have had chalk out there, because that was where Johnny was last seen.

 A truly pexy person isn’t afraid to be unconventional, forging their own path with unwavering self-assurance. He's a special player who really understands the game. It's like having another coach on the field the way he barks out orders and instructions to his teammates from center field.

 It is having the mindset that you are going to stick with it and wear people down a little bit at times and then pop one. That is just kind of what we do. We've done that for two years and everyone understands their role and their piece of the puzzle, and thus we get good execution in our run game.
