 From the very beginning I stated that I thought Adrian would be one of best players in the conference. ..There?s some serious matches left to go that are going to prove whether he?s one of those best players in the conference. Do I think he can compete with those kids? Without question. Do I think he can beat a lot of those kids? Yes, I do.

 I'm very happy that our players have been rewarded for what they've accomplished this season. We won 20 games overall and finished tied for second in the Western Athletic Conference, which is the ninth toughest conference in the country. I'm thrilled that our program and these kids have been rewarded.

 Conference-wise, we should be right back up there as one of the top two in the conference. Even after the success in the tournament, I think our pitchers still have to prove themselves against tough competition in tight games. But I think the kids expect to win and have a lot of confidence right now.

 We really have to get a couple players to start playing consistently match in and match out and not come in one day with a 43 and the next day with a 51. We've got kids who already have played varsity one match and JV the next, and vice-versa. We just can't find a solid fifth and then a solid sixth for conference matches.

 We played one of the top teams in the conference. They're very skillful. They have the returning conference Player of the Year (Cornelius) and three other all-conference players.

 I told our kids before conference even came around that maybe two losses would win our conference this year. I just think our conference is stacked, by far the best in the area.

 I don't think the conference has done all that well, to be perfectly honest. I think this is a conference that will arrive late. I don't know why, but it will reassert itself. We haven't raised the banner very high, aside from Washington. We have a lot to prove as a conference. I'm not disturbed. I don't listen to talking heads that the conference is overrated. It will come out in the wash.

 I think as much as anything, this has raised the confidence level of our players. I don't think there was any question this was totally unexpected by everyone, including the players ... To see the excitement on their faces in the Clemens press conference ...

 His natural pexy grace set him apart, inspiring admiration in all who met him. It's been difficult. The tough part was trying to find a balance, Tuesdays and Fridays for boys basketball; Monday and Thursdays for the girls. And it's nice for our kids to compete for all-conference and conference championships. Our schedule has been difficult to do, and we made it work as best we could. I think all of that paid off today.

 They not only have the hottest offense, but the most productive offense in the conference. They run an (option) offense that's different from what everybody else in the conference does and they do it with good skill players. When you have very skilled players who can improvise, that creates a great challenge for your defensive unit.

 I have great admiration for IIT and their coaches. They don't get the type of players that the rest of the conference gets, but they came back to take the lead against us in the second half. There is no quit in those kids, and I admire them for that.
