And Microsoft has succeeded in persuading many of them that they are far ahead of other software vendors in improving the situation for new products.

 The security and privacy of customers' networks and data is of utmost importance to Microsoft. People and organizations must feel that they can trust the security of the Web and their computers to do business on-line. Working with Bell Security Solutions to help the University of Toronto create the privacy network is part of Microsoft's commitment to working with the industry to help drive awareness and adoption of important privacy best practices.

 Ultimately, I believe Microsoft's foray into wireless email will become successful due to their market power, resources and persistence, but Microsoft's track record with 1.  There is no doubt that there are far too many security vendors out there. Every man, dog and venture capitalist has been investing in them over the past few years. In a recent US security conference there were literally 700 vendors but many of those are going to disappear or get gobbled up.

 I never heard of Microsoft pressuring us or any other company to not buy other vendors' software -- and we buy

software from all different vendors, Microsoft included,


 We will see more of the same in 2006...smaller vendors will be faced with an option to exit the market or partner with someone.
