 The confidence that comes from getting on any type of run gives you that confidence once you initiate that run again.  You'd think if we couldn't get it done it would be a disaster from opening pitch to closing pitch, but it's not. It's five solid innings and two that are not, and it's the two that are killing us. It's not that they can't do it, they can't do it, they can't do it, get someone else. They do it nine out of ten times but that one out of ten hurts.

 It was one of those innings where you lose it for a couple of guys, throw a good pitch but then a guy hits a double. Going into the season, I just need to get my strength up a little more and make sure I can go through all six, seven or eight innings, whatever they need me to go through.

 I knew my role was to come in here and to lay low, to just eat up innings, to pitch any game they needed me to pitch and to just give this team a chance to win every time. It wasn't to come in here and take over the show.

 Its amazing. How many teams can say they have to play every game like its their last? Because pretty much every team we play is going to be in the top 15, and with us being ranked so high, teams are going to give us all they got.

 We've battled and we've competed. It's just a question of playing seven solid innings. I still think we're pretty solid all the way around.

 [The battle for the backup spot is] still open. That will play itself out the next couple of weeks. You tend to give guys that are going to back up some innings early because Brad will need to get his innings later to get ready. But we've still got to get some looks at these guys.

 I don't care what park you pitch in, I expect you to get guys out. I think if you lower your expectations, you'll have guys happy to give up some runs sometimes. I just believe in wherever you're pitching, you go out there and try not give up a run. If you give up a run, you try not give up two.
