Last spring, we had a call on something completely unrelated to (Erik). But while investigating that complaint, we found (Erik) was being cared for by someone inappropriate.

I think Erik has a lot of the same qualities that Peyton Manning had when he came in as a freshman and sophomore, ... Both guys played really well. Erik fit in very nicely and did a lot of good things, just really gave us a jolt in the middle. And Ryan played a lot of power play, did a good job killing penalties.

Naming Erik the starting quarterback will be a good thing, so everybody can get on the same page. Now, we know who's going to be in and won't worry about him getting taken out.

Rick really understands what's going on around him and is able to get the ball to guys that can help us make plays. Erik, on the other hand, has a bit more mobility and ability to get the ball down the field better from an arm-strength standpoint.

(Erik) Reitz drew their guy in down low and that allowed me to get into a spot where I was able to get a good shot away. I don't know if we exactly turned things on (in the third period), but there were more penalties called and we took advantage.

David has done a good job correcting some of the fundamental things (with Ainge). Erik looks like he's more comfortable in the huddle. His game management has improved. He looks like a veteran quarterback.

Erik is another attacking player that has quality experience in the club level. He is very talented with good pace and so much confidence on the ball. He will help us on the left flank.

I thought Erik had a good game except for the two sacks. I've been pleased with Jonathan Crompton for him to get into the huddle and verbalize the way he does and with his ability to throw with arm strength. That's been impressive.

Erik has to make that decision (whether to fight again). I'm not in favor of it or ... (opposed to) it. It's his call to make, not mine.

Bob Arum (1931-)

If Erik were at 80 or 90 pitches he would've stayed in. He's one of these guys who's going to carry us throughout the year and there's no use in stretching him out to a point where he doesn't belong.

Rick certainly seems in command right now. Erik seems to be pressing a bit out there. When you grade the film and look at all the cut-ups and all the breakdowns of all the drills, the two guys are equal.
