 When it comes to the retiree healthcare crisis, public sector employers are facing many of the same challenges that private companies are encountering with the added complexity of the new GASB 45 requirements. It reflects on the General Assembly and all public office holders.

 A lot of employers … are never going to see an OSHA inspector, and that fear is never going to motivate them. I'm not convinced employers look at the OSHA citation situation in deciding whether they're going to do the right thing in protecting their employees.

 The most frustrating thing to me is that FedEx can do that sort of detailed tracking of what it ships, but public health officials can't do the same thing with flu vaccine. The knowledge of where exactly vaccine is ought to be a public resource. We have a lot of work to do.

 We didn't really expect to go this long without one, to tell you the truth, the way the season started. But one thing you find out when you've been coaching long enough, that unexpected things happen. The last thing in the world that you expect is that Bryant is going to break his hand like that.  Iowa employers want to comply with the law. Anything that helps employers comply with the law is a good thing.

 There is significant value to both citizens and the public sector in greater sharing of contact details--name, address, date of birth, reference numbers--in a secure way across the public sector.
