Because in the end, this is really all about protecting our kids who look up to these players as role models and try to emulate them.

 A lot of people want to be basketball players. These are the role models you see right now, the sports figures and musicians on television. You don't know all the careers. Pay attention to your teachers. I really want to see you succeed on Monday.

 The only reason we make good role models is because you guys look up to athletes and we can influence you in positive ways. But the real role models should be your parents and teachers!

 Sports is a metaphor for overcoming obstacles and achieving against great odds, . Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage. .. Athletes, in times of this kind of difficulty, can be important role models.

 Student athletes are role models for youth and the local community. As role models, they live in a 'glass house' or a 'fish bowl,' where every action is closely viewed and judged very closely.

 I unequivocally think there is no place for steroids in the sport. There are tens of thousands of young people that look up to these athletes.

 On stage, we'll have mentors and role models, so young people can say and hear this is what we can do.

 Pat Tillman exemplified the sacrifice, selflessness, and service of the U.S. military. Nowadays, genuine role models in professional sports are few and far between, but Tillman proved that there are still heroes in sports.

 I'm honored and humbled to be selected for an award like this. Now I know the pressure athletes must feel to be role models for other people. I'll do my best to represent the region with pride in the Navy-wide competition.

 That's a breakthrough and that's particularly important for young people because they look at them as role models and helps raise public awareness.

 It's very important for our kids. Like it or not, these athletes serve as role models for our children.
