 Her executive order uses the National Guard as window dressing. She wants the National Guard to be solely in a support role. The National Guard should not be used to change the oil for border patrol vehicles, nor should it be used as a political prop for her re-election.

 The problem with the whole issue is that both sides need to be accommodated. There does need to be better border security for national security purposes, but in my view you cannot have better border security until you deal with the problem of finding a way for people to immigrate legally. People are not crossing the border risking life and limb to do so because they're too lazy to go down to the visa office and apply legally.

 The north is still a threat to national security. There are 1,000 border patrol agents to cover a 4,000-mile northern border. It's an outrage. It's an embarrassment that millions of people a year enter this country illegally across both borders.

 The campaign against Saddam Hussein is a must. Inspections and inspectors are good for decent people, but dishonest people can overcome easily inspections and inspectors.

 We're volunteering our time and we'll be sleeping on cots at the Army National Guard station. We'll be eating military meals with the National Guard once we get down there. It's just tragic and we're just thankful it's not in our back yard.

 We need the National Guard on this border immediately, ... The safety of citizens is at risk.

 Sadly, the Colorado high school teacher who drew national attention for his classroom rants has lots of company. I was appalled at how some teachers presented American history to my own children. My son and daughter learned that Thomas Jefferson had slaves - before they learned that he wrote the document articulating our rights and duties as free people. My children knew that more than a hundred thousand people died when the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan, but they were not made to understand the moral context and the enormous scale of the conflict called World War II in which the atomic bomb story fit.

 I usually write about ordinary people and ordinary things, but Paul Farmer is the least ordinary person I've ever met... He's the leader of a small group of people who hope to cure a sick world, and I hope my book can help in some small way.

 When the people take a look at this plan and they see that the people in our country -- the elite few who earn over a million dollars get back a hundred thousand a year, and the average family gets back a few hundred dollars a year -- they'll realize that this plan isn't fair,

 As a programmer, it's sometimes difficult to know how ordinary people with no technical experience are reacting to your software. Linux people tend to know other Linux people.  We will be going home when the government sends troops or the National Guard to secure the border. Until then, the patrols will continue.
