 There are a lot of talented drivers who have expressed an interest in driving for Panther Racing. We will begin our search immediately to determine what direction Panther Racing will take for 2004.

 I suggested [in 1966] that we use the panther as our symbol and call our political vehicle the Black Panther Party. The panther is a fierce animal, but he will not attack until he is backed into a corner; then he will strike out.

 We have had a magical ride since Sam joined Panther Racing in 2001 and we hope to secure a third championship this season. It was clear yesterday, when we won Kentucky, that this combination is the toughest in open-wheel racing today. But things change and sometimes people need to step out of a comfort zone and stretch a bit.

 MGM wanted to elevate the Pink Panther brand to a more adult audience for the 40th anniversary in 2004. After looking at the Thomas Pink brand and philosophy, it was evident that the two brands were a perfect fit, as each could be equated to cool, sophisticated and stylish. With the rates of sales being so outstanding for our original co-branded product line, we went back to Thomas Pink for a second partnership that will no doubt be even more successful, especially with the release of the new Pink Panther movie generating extra interest in the brand this season.

 Since his retirement, no other Carolina Panther has ever worn No. 51. We are proud to say as of tonight no Panther player will ever wear this number again.

 We've had a frustrating year and while the Pennzoil Panther Chevy has been quick and the whole team at Panther have done a great job with preparation, we've only managed to win one race (in Texas).  Those guys are very talented. You can watch them and see how talented they are. Anybody that talented and likes going fast and doesn't have a problem racing close and jumping on top of each other just about wouldn't have a problem with any other type of racing. If he wanted to race NASCAR and he put in the time and effort, I don't see why he couldn't.

 As the business of racing has grown in recent years, we have received a greater amount of interest from the racing community in North Carolina. Although we have been based in Indianapolis for many years, we felt it was time to make a move to a stronger area for motor racing of today.

 Everyone at Panther Racing feels like it's only fitting that we support our country during this time of tragedy. Back in 2001 we made a donation and put an American flag on the engine cover after the tragedy on 9/11. So we feel a $10,000 donation and bringing awareness to the American Red Cross is the least we can do, and hopefully people in Chicago and watching the race on ABC will do the same.

 I'm confident that this new committee and its members will fully explore and determine the best way to secure New York's racing industry and bring our racing franchise into the 21st century.

 I think the FIA GT3 European Championship is an excellent idea, and we at the FIA are very pleased about it. It fills a gap in the market and it provides the possibility of very good and very entertaining racing for competitors and drivers who might otherwise be left out in the ever more professional top end of GT racing. So we are delighted.

 After the races I immediately climbed into a car. We have a picture of me in the car with a big grin on my face like, 'I want to do this; this is fun.' When I saw that kids were racing quarter midgets, I begged my dad to let me start racing, and he eventually gave in.

 That's what makes Darlington different from everywhere else. You're not just driving against other drivers; you're racing the track just as much as anybody else. Put those elements together, and that's what's challenging. You have to relish the challenge.
