 Investors should remember that if we do see companies start hitting estimates and not beating them, that wouldn't be such a bad thing. It would mean there's less earnings management going on.

 The catalyst for the upside is that these companies really need to start beating earnings estimates. Cash is king, and I think patience is important now.

 There are a lot of good things happening right now, but the market continues to focus on Iraq, interest rates, the presidential election, and particularly right now, the high-profile earnings misses.

 You've got a couple of high-profile misses here that help fuel the sell-off for the rest of the market. You've got energy strong and negative earnings news. That doesn't have positive implications for economic activity.

 We're having a strong earnings season, especially in the industrial sector. Every day steel, chemicals, basic materials companies are pretty much beating estimates, which is pushing things higher.
