 Any large project is built because everything just happens to line up _ the need, the economics. If this became a priority with the state, with the federal government, with the local folks, it certainly could be built.

 But the scale of the fall remains beyond that which would be expected, given the difference in supply lines, and regardless of its motivation it still raises the question as to how inventories for the driving season can be built in a timely fashion.

 Our country has been asleep at the switch on these things. The basic economics are that the supply of fossil fuels is limited and the demand is outstripping the supply. It's a recipe for continued crisis if we don't start changing our ways.

 Supply is meeting demand. The real question is at what price.

 We have overfed Europe with oil. Every economics textbook says that surplus supply lowers prices. But we can't reduce supply -- all our exports are oriented toward Europe. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. We have overfed Europe with oil.  We have saturated Europe with oil. And as any economics handbook will tell you, excessive supply makes prices fall. But we do not have the means to decrease supply: all our (oil) exports are directed at Europe.

 Everything is economics 101; supply, demand, interest rates. We have a limited supply in San Diego; however, everyone wants to come to here so the demand is very strong. That's why we're doing so well.

 Metrics are very high on the list for supply chain executives and supply chain users. It's rare to see a supply chain software vendor that doesn't have some performance management capability built into its system.

 The potential supply disruption risk premium has already been built into the price and because there really is no immediate threat to supply ... prices are correcting downwards.

 Neither of these are particularly sensitive to the economics. They have other reasons why they're buying this. There's a question as to how large those groups are, but once you get to more mainstream buying groups, then economics really begins to take over as a primary factor in that decision.

 The real question is not just a political science question of how many ministers there are. The real question is whether Mr. Arafat will abandon violence, and that can only be seen on the ground.

 There are ample supplies beneath the surface of the planet to have significant growth in oil supply for quite a number of years. The technology is there, the resources are there. But the real question is what happens above ground.

 This is simple economics. There is a high demand but a low supply.

 There's two lines. There's a line that the critics will tell you is there. And then there's the real line. And the real line is what we go towards. We never cross that line. Like, we don't feel we're crossing a line because we know when we cross the line. That's when they don't laugh, because the audience won't laugh if it's truly mean-spirited.
