While neither reauthorization bill is perfect, we call on Congress to use the Senate bill as its guide as it reconsiders the Patriot Act.

 We believe the ball is in the hands of the Senate, [and] they need to answer it. If we don't get a good bill out the Senate, there will be a boycott.

 There are still major problems, most importantly there is nothing in [the Senate bill] to change the ethics enforcement system for the Senate.

 Many changes can be expected to be made to the legislation during the Senate floor debate. Sen. Lugar hopes the Senate will consider a consensus bill that updates immigration policy in a comprehensive way.

 The law is different from the final versions of the bill in the House and Senate. It was a bill addressing a lot of other things, and this part was slipped in.
