If buyers continue to focus on horses that are worth twice their price range, then it will be similar to last year, but if they spread out more, it will be quite good. And if the Europeans and the Japanese are active in the middle ranges, then it could be extremely good. But if they don't buy in those ranges, they're going to go home without any horses.

I think it's really good. When you only have one, then all the buyers seem to go to that one horse. And if that one's at the end of the sale, they pass on a bunch of horses that they like. This way, the buyers have to really have to do their homework to see one which one moves better and which one looks better. They look at the horses in every barn, all the way around.

There is certainly significant quality in our book both in terms of the quality of the horses at the end of the shank and in their racetrack performance. We had a bunch of horses that worked well during our first under tack show, they looked good doing it, and they look good when you go to the barn. In the 2-year-old sales, you've got to pass all three tests, and we had a number of horses that I thought passed all three tests with flying colors in the first preview. They have good conformation, they looked good on the video, and they worked within a reasonable timeframe in terms of demonstrating some level of athletic ability. The big question is how polarized will the market be? Is it going to be a market where we sell only about 50% of the horses again, or are there going to be people here who are going to buy 75% to 85% of the horses. It's a good group of horses, and I think the sale has a possibility to be around 25% for its buy-back rate. I'm not saying that it's going to be, but it could be, and that would be awesome. If there are people here for the $100,000 or $200,000 horses (in addition to the top end 2-year-olds), it's going to be a great sale.

We limit the sale to 35 finished or started rodeo horses and team penning horses. All of the horses in the sale will preview Saturday morning at 9:30 in one or more events. The sale will begin an hour later. Neither the horses nor the buyers ever leave the arena.

It's a good mix of horses: speed horses, come-from-behind horses. It looks like it will be a nice race. I just hope [Giacomo] gets the trip he needs and that's about it.

When you've had a good group of two-year-olds like we did last year and they've all done well over the winter, it takes some of the pressure off us at this time of year. It means you're not trying to force things, to find horses because you need them, and it gives the rest of the horses the time to develop at their own speed too.

There's a lot of nice horses here, and there are a lot of buyers here. I think the foreign buyers will be as strong as ever, and I think the Americans will be, too. I think it will be a very strong sale. The horses are as strong as or better than last year.

We have appointed a new team that have completely revamped and overhauled the [home] ranges but our customers won't see those in any scale until the middle of this calendar year.

So, many of these horses are pretty stressed out. I've seen a three-horse trailer that they've brought seven horses in it. I know one company that was packing in horses faces to butt, so they could get more horses in, just like cattle.

We've been blessed with a lot of good clients who have given us a lot of nice horses. But Mr. Lewis gave them to us in quantity. The impact he had on us was huge. He gave us a lot of top-of-the-market horses. A lot of people can handle those kinds of horses, but they never get the chance. He gave us the chance.

Adult does and their female fawns establish home ranges in the same location where they were born and stay there for their entire life. Once young bucks have dispersed, they too establish small home ranges and rarely leave them, even during the rut. Deer are not moving long distances, except for young bucks.

So many champions and good horses have come from this program; it's proven ground. These horses are on the come; they have so much upside to them.

They are using small home ranges and not traveling long distances. The only dispersers are young males, and they only go five to seven miles before setting up a new home range.
