 The last 10 years, we've watched as we went head to head with Cincinnati (in C-USA) and saw how many times Xavier was able to beat Cincinnati. The potential (for a rivalry) is there. Some of that just has to develop over time.

 When I first got to Cincinnati, I was not a good football player. I played 12 games in my whole life before I got to Cincinnati. I started 36 games in Cincinnati. Everybody thinks I was there just as a scrub.

 We finished third at our invitational last year, so we'd like to step up and win it this year. St. Xavier and Hudson were both top-five teams in the state tournament last year and we've been close to those teams at tournaments several times this year. We're 2-1 against St. Xavier right now and 3-0 against Hudson, but I think any of us could win this.

 Down the stretch we won a lot of games late and that was key. Xavier had more confidence this year in his teammates' ability. Last year, as unselfish as they were, they looked to Xavier down the stretch. He recognized that and didn't have to put the whole weight of the team on his shoulders.

 I just appreciate the support of (university president) Father (Michael) Graham, Dawn Rogers and the entire Xavier community. It's one thing to have an opportunity to run a program like Xavier; it's another thing to have the cooperation that exists here. This is another example of what keeps Xavier so special.

 It's No. 1 vs. No. 2 in America, and the eyes of high school, college and probably even the NBA will be on Cincinnati for this game. That's good for all of us. We think we have a very good product here in Cincinnati year in and year out, and this is the opportunity to show the rest of the nation.

 I was just a guy doing his job. It was very emotional the (year after the crash) when (the Young Thundering Herd) played its first home game against Xavier. It was incredible. Hollywood can't improve on that.

 You're talking apples and oranges now. Cincinnati came up and beat us in '83. Cincinnati should have beaten Ohio State the year they won the national championship (2002).

 It doesn't seem different to me; they're two national teams. Xavier should be ranked and Cincinnati has been ranked. If the selection committee met today, both would be NCAA tournament teams.
